Wow! The holidays have come and gone in a blink of an eye. I hope everyone had a great recess, I know I enjoyed the extra time with my family. Students showed lots of grit when returning from break by diving right back into routines and eager to learn.
During our monthly Crew Celebration this morning, students went on an Adventure. We began the celebration in the large gym with morning announcements and celebrated the monthly Spirit and Attendance winners for December. Next, students took an adventure to go on a “Bear Hunt” to the small gym. There they found one of the school’s Adventure Program tents and discovered Mr. Akin camping. Mr. Akin along with his Junior Explorer, Sydney Williams, led the students on a “Bear Hunt”. Student sang along as they left the campsite, swished their way through the tall grass, swam across the river, squished through the mud, tripped over roots and limbs in the dark scary forest and tip-toed into a cave where they found the bear. As the adventure came to a close, we all enjoyed a wonderful treat of hot cocoa before heading back to classrooms to begin the school day. Every grade level will be taking three adventures throughout the school year.
The PTO met last night to discuss the upcoming “Family Game Night”. Due to some scheduling conflicts, we have pushed the event back to Thursday, January 23, starting at 6:00pm. The PTO will have a variety of board games available to play in the cafeteria and the small gym will be available for basketball. Light refreshments will be provided.
Have a great weekend and remember; Adventure doesn’t come calling. You have to go out and look for it.
